In Loving Memory

Sharon Lee Zornes

With heavy hearts and faith in God’s promise of eternal life, we announce the passing of Sharon Lee Zornes on December 30, 2025, at her home in Granite Bay, California.  A beloved mother, nana, aunt, sister-in-law, devoted wife and friend.  Sharon will be remembered for her love of life, beautiful smile, strong faith, simple elegance and her enduring kindness and loyalty, and for the genuine love she shared so freely with others.

Born Sharon Lee Chandler, July 21, 1940, in Los Angeles, California, to Richard Chandler and Edna Emma Heaton.  Lovingly raised in Santa Barbara and Burney, California by stepfather and mother Stanley and Edna McKnight. Sharon graduated from Fall River High School and married the love of her life, Douglas Zornes, in 1961.  In the 1970s, Sharon moved to her forever home in Granite Bay, California.  With care and love from her grandson, Tate Cunningham, Sharon was able to remain in her forever home until she transitioned to her eternal home with God and Douglas.

Sharon especially treasured her time spent with close friends, her grandchildren, “the boys”, and at her dream home on the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand.  Sharon was employed in the telephone/communications industry for 45 years, working for Citizens Utilities in Burney, Susanville, and Elk Grove; eventually retiring from Roseville Telephone Company.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Douglas Zornes.  Sharon is survived by her daughter, (Laurie) Shannon, and son-in-law, Jim Cunningham of Auburn, California; her grandsons, Tate Cunningham of Granite Bay, California and Dayton Cunningham of Auburn, California; her nephew, Chris Bodamer, and wife Marie of Redding, California; her niece, Karen Thomas of Folsom, California; her brother-in-law, Bernard Zornes, and wife Cindy of Cassel, California; and her best friend, Sandra Frazer of Wheatland, California, along with many other loving family and friends.
